Approach

We are using an approach called 'action research'.

AIM

"To identify how community groups can be supported by the SPAN partnership to enable local people to become involved in sustainable food production and consumption."

METHOD

Identification of the area of work that SPAN will support, record and investigate. (Led by lead facilitator and lead partner)

Pilot Narration & reflection – ongoing record of pilot action learning - activities undertaken, resources used, SPAN support etc, including difficulties, problems and successes, which will provide the evidence for the quarterly reports. (Led by lead facilitator for each pilot)

Pilot Action Research Reflection – Summary reports (x4) reviewing and reflecting on key SPAN inputs and support that took place, or could have taken place. (Led by lead partner{in consultation with the Lead Facilitator})

Collation and feed-back (x4) – synthesis of pilot reports, summarising key learning outcomes from the ten pilots, to be disseminated to EAF, steering group, Lead Organisations, Lead Facilitators and Pilot Groups. (Led by project manager)

Action Research Analysis – draft end-report analysing the 2005-2006 programme, outlining key learning outcomes and recommendations for practical action. (Led by Project manager)

Feed back and discussion of recommendations – via a participatory meeting, October 2007. (Led by all project participants)

Publication and dissemination of learning outcomes – report and practical ‘tools’. (Led by project manager)
